Data Deletion Instructions

You can delete the Platform Data DmSetter holds about you at any time. Choose any of the three options below — all result in full deletion within 30 days.

What data we store

When you use DmSetter, we store the following:

Account information: your email address (used for login).
Instagram connection data: Instagram username, business account ID, and access tokens for the connected account.
Conversation metadata: lead Instagram usernames, message IDs, message counts, category labels, and short conversation summaries. We do NOT store message content (DM transcripts are processed in memory only at reply time).
AI configuration: your soul.md persona, reply rules, and account-level settings.

Option A — Revoke through Instagram

Go to instagram.com/accounts/manage_access/.
Find DM Setter Agent-IG in the list of authorized apps.
Click Remove. Revocation takes effect immediately.

If you revoke access through Instagram, the Service can no longer Process your data on your behalf. Stored access tokens become invalid and any further API calls will fail. To request immediate deletion of all stored data (tokens, conversation metadata, account info), also email us using Option C below.

Option B — Through the app

Sign in to your DmSetter account.
Go to Settings → Disconnect & Delete → Disconnect Instagram.
Confirm the disconnection.

The disconnect takes effect immediately. Your Platform Data will be permanently deleted within 30 days unless you reconnect.

Option C — Email request

Send an email to legal@dmsetter.app with the subject line Data Deletion Request.
Include the email address associated with your DmSetter account and the Instagram username you connected, so we can locate your records.
We may take reasonable steps to verify your identity before fulfilling the request.

We will delete your Platform Data within 30 days of a verified request and confirm the deletion by reply email.

What gets deleted

Your Instagram access tokens and associated account identifiers.
Conversation metadata for the connected account (message content is not stored — see Section 2 of our Privacy Policy).
Your DmSetter account information, including your soul.md persona configuration and any reply preferences you set.

We may retain a limited subset of information where required by law (for example, to comply with tax, audit, or dispute-resolution obligations). Any such retention is covered in Section 7 of our Privacy Policy.

What is not deleted

Anonymised aggregate data: non-identifiable usage statistics (e.g. aggregate message counts across the platform) may be retained for product improvement.
Legal and financial records: records required for tax, audit, or regulatory compliance are retained as required by applicable law.
Confirmation records:when deletion is initiated through Meta’s formal data deletion request flow, a confirmation code (with timestamps only — no personal data) is retained indefinitely so the confirmation URL Meta provided you continues to work.

What happens when you remove DmSetter from Instagram

When you remove DmSetter via Instagram (Option A), Meta sends us a deauthorization callback. Upon receipt we automatically:

Stop all AI-assisted responses for your account immediately.
Revoke our stored access tokens.
Schedule deletion of your Instagram-related data within 30 days.

You can verify the status of your deletion request at the confirmation URL Instagram provided you when you submitted a formal data deletion request.

Response timeline

We respond to verified deletion requests within 30 days, consistent with the timeline set out in PIPEDA and Quebec’s Law 25. If we need more time for a particular request (for example, where additional verification is required), we will tell you the reason and the expected completion date.
